The NWH Group Reports Another Record-Breaking Year

The NWH Group, one of the UK’s leading recycling and waste management providers, has delivered another outstanding year of growth, reporting a record trading performance for the financial year ending 30 September 2024.

Since the Covid-impacted 2020, the Group has produced increasing sales and profits, achieving revenues of £55.4 million, a 6% increase on the prior year. Operating profit rose to £4.2 million, up 24% year-on-year, demonstrating the strength of NWH’s diverse business model and commitment to long-term value creation.

The Group’s robust financial performance in FY24 was driven by sustained expansion across its Tradewaste and Construction & Demolition divisions, as well as strong contributions from its newly enhanced processing facilities in Newcastle and long-standing sites in Midlothian, Glasgow, Dundee, Angus, and Edinburgh.

Despite some sector-wide headwinds, the Group continued to invest in infrastructure, sustainability, and operational excellence. Growth in the Tradewaste division was underpinned by improved customer retention and new multi-year contract wins across key commercial sectors such as retail, leisure, and manufacturing.

In addition, strategic investment in the aggregate washplant and wood recycling operations delivered strong returns. Volume growth and margin gains were also achieved through service expansion and increased asset utilisation.

This year’s results hold particular meaning as the business reflects on the passing of its long-serving CEO, Mark Williams, who led and grew the business over the last two decades. Under the stewardship of the senior management team, led by Managing Director Gavin Money, the business has continued to build on Mark’s legacy with renewed clarity and resilience.

Nairn Black, Finance Director at The NWH Group, commented:
“FY24 has been a year of both reflection and progress. Despite emotional and operational challenges, we’ve delivered our highest ever revenue and profit figures. Our focus on long-term customer relationships, disciplined investment, and operational efficiency has positioned us strongly for the future.

“With our next three-year strategic plan underway, our aim is to further strengthen our market leadership through innovation, sustainability, and continued growth. We remain committed to our vision of eliminating waste by transforming it into a valuable resource.”

The Group’s longer-term strategy targets continued revenue expansion, with significant focus on margin growth, customer experience, and environmental impact. The NWH Group’s resilience, customer-centricity, and sustainability-focused approach continue to define its trajectory in the UK recycling and resource management industry.
