We are not only dedicated to tackling the HGV shortage in the UK but we are also entirely committed to the investment of development of our youth and unskilled workforces.

With more HGV drivers retiring in 2022 than ever before, and a real lack of opportunity for young people looking to get into the profession, it’s no surprise that we face a large shortage of HGV drivers across the UK.

The process to become qualified can be a lengthy and difficult one, and one that can seem out of reach for lots of young adults due to the number of examinations, courses and the expensive fees that are required.

To combat these blockers the NWH Group have launched a fully funded driving school. We launched this initiative in 2022 and this year we are doubling our intake of apprentices on the programme.

Our HR team has been widely promoting our apprenticeship program and recently attended Newbattle High School, a local school to our Head Office to educate pupils on the opportunity and career progression available within our industries.

We're dedicated to tackling the driver shortage across the UK by creating new and sustainable careers. That's why we've increased the number of apprenticeships by 100% this year. We encourage applications from candidates of all backgrounds and ages and we’d urge anybody interested in a career in one of the leading waste management businesses in the UK to check out our website.
