The NWH Group clean up in Edinburgh

The NWH Group clean up in Edinburgh

Following almost two weeks of strike action by local refuse workers in Edinburgh, The NWH Group was brought in by The City of Edinburgh Council to help clean up the city.

We have a head office just south of Edinburgh near Dalkeith, and were on hand with our eight-wheeled grab lorries to scoop up the rubbish which had been left piled high throughout the historic city.

Nicola Williams, Sales and Marketing Director at NWH Group, said: “There were no collections during the period of action and waste and recycling centres also remained closed, so it’s been a fairly major operation to clean up the mess.

“We’re proud of our team who have been working tirelessly across several locations since last Tuesday, and have made excellent progress with the streets returning to their usual respectable state.”

We cleared and collected a range of materials from across the Grassmarket, New Town and Holyrood areas of the city, and transported it to the Council’s waste transfer stations at Sighthill and Seafield.

Angela Buchanan, member of the public, added: “All credit to the guys from NWH Group who came round Comley Bank to lift the black bags and other rubbish lying at the sides of communal bins. They did a great job, and the woman even swept the pavements after everything was lifted.”
