NWH Group back with a bang for Edinburgh’s festivities

UniqueAssembly Ltd has appointed The NWH Group, one of the UK’s leading recycling companies, to provide waste management for both Edinburgh’s Christmas and Edinburgh’s Hogmanay Festivals.

We will be providing 59 bins for Edinburgh’s Christmas. which starts on 25^th November, and these will be retained throughout the festive season with a further 20 bins added to support Edinburgh’s Hogmanay celebrations. The final collection will be on 3^rd January 2023.

We will supply bins for all four waste streams; general, dry mixed recycling, glass, and food, uplifting daily (multiple times) from numerous collection points across the city centre including Princes Street and The Mound, Lidl on Ice on George Street, and West Princes Street Gardens, seven days a week.

To ensure the efficient separation and recovery of all recyclable and reusable materials, the waste that is collected will be transported to our central material recycling facility, with the exception of food waste, which is diverted directly to an anaerobic digestion facility in Cumbernauld where it will go through the environmentally friendly process of generating electricity.

Once sorted, any wood waste collected will be transported to our Petterden site near Dundee which specialises in processing recycled wood into animal bedding and biomass for energy plants. Any plastic material collected will primarily be pelleted and converted into garden furniture and wheelie bins; card and paper will be recycled back into card and paper, and glass is regenerated back to glass.
