What can go into my skip?
Our skips are a great option for most types of waste, which you can use of disposing of any ‘non-hazardous’ rubbish. There are, however, some ‘hazardous’ items which cannot be put into a regular skip, these include:
- Fridges/freezers
- Tyres
- Gas bottles
- Asbestos
- Nappies
- Ink/toners/paint
- Batteries
- Fluorescent light tubes
- Electrical items such as TVs, microwaves etc
- Food
If you require disposal of any of these items, please get in touch so we can discuss the right solution for you.
What is a skip permit and do I need one?
If you plan to leave your hire skip on a public road for the duration of the job you will be required to possess a legitimate skip permit. But don’t let this put you off, as soon as you have obtained your permit, we can still have your skip to you within 24 hours.
Our domestic wait and load services can also be a great hassle-free alternative if council permits cannot be granted.
What is a wait and load service?
Our wait and load services are a great alternative to skip hire, allowing you to swiftly remove waste, without the need for skips taking up space on your site for extended periods of time. We provide the van, simply load it up and we will take it away all within 60 minutes.
Where does my waste go once it has been collected?
As a responsible waste management company, you can rest assured that any recyclable materials we collect will be recycled, helping reduce the environmental impact of your project. The materials from your skip are carefully sorted at our Material Recycling Facility (MRF) and all recyclable material is sent to re-processors to be turned into new products. Below are some examples of new products we create with your waste;
- Glass is transformed into material for water filtration.
- Cardboard, plastics and aluminium are transformed into new products such as toilet roll, containers, cans and components.
- Metal is processed and remelted to make new products.
- Wood is transformed into animal bedding and biomass.
- General waste is transformed into energy to power homes and businesses.
