Job Summary

The NWH Group is a family-run business in Scotland, founded in 1967 operating in the construction industry supply chain and Waste Management to the retail and leisure industry.

Serving the whole of Scotland over four sites, in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Dundee and Midlothian, we provide various solutions including; Trade Waste collection, Skip hire, Materials Recycling, Tipper Hire, Road sweepers, Concrete, aggregate materials, gritting and winter maintenance services.

Due to the continuous growth of the business, we are recruiting for an experienced weighbridge operator/clerk to help us deliver our waste services on various projects across the Glasgow area. This role is on a part time basis working from 10:00 to 15:00 daily. This role also requires someone who can cover a full time work pattern on holiday cover when needed, approx 5 weeks spread across the year.

Job Purpose

  • Control and coordinate waste movement on and off sites so that all acceptable waste materials entering or leaving site are recorded and accounted for, in line with licensing requirements.
  • Record weights and waste type by vehicle, completing appropriate documentation and collect driver signatures for accounting purposes;

Main Job Activities

  • Directing traffic coming into and out of site and operate the weighbridge, recording all vehicles entering/leaving site;
  • Record weights and waste type by vehicle, completing appropriate documentation and collect driver signatures for accounting purposes;
  • Maintain the weighbridge office and surrounding areas in a clean, tidy and hazard free condition;
  • Adhere to licensing guidelines and collating data;
  • Assist in general administrative duties and customer service as required;
  • Liaising with Transport, Sales, Garage and other departments as required;
  • Keeping up to date with relevant government legislation and industry developments;
  • Adopt a safety culture and effective housekeeping, including wearing of PPE at all times;

Knowledge and Skills Required

  • Knowledge and understanding of HSE regulations
  • Ability to communicate with staffs at all levels
  • Knowledge of materials processed and how to recycle
  • Competent in basic Microsoft Office packages
  • Strong organisational skills
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to work under own initiative and as part of team
